  • Pigging around in London town on World Book day...

I went up to Swaffield Primary, last week to open their brand new library and read Pigs Might Surf to the children. As a special 'invited author' the pressure was on to make an impression so I enlisted the services of my sister in-law Mandy to dress up in the pig costume which went down a treat at drop off time!

I read the story to a group of about 60 children from ages 4-6, bringing it alive with the help of our new story sack (carefully made by co-author and wife 'Tiny'). Children were chosen to come to the front of the hall and do a 'lucky dip' to see what character they could find from the story inside the sack. They then held the characters aloft with huge enthusiasm as soon as they were mentioned in the story!

The day was great fun and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting everyone at the school. A special thanks to headmistress Mrs Lilly and all her kind staff who looked after me so well.
